The Idaho Sheriffs' Association directory also lists Sheriff J. Adam Mabey, Jail Administrator Capt. Brandy Bredehoft, capacity 49, and average daily population 33.

Caribou County Booking Process

The inmate handbook gives the best local booking detail. After arrest and transport to Caribou County Jail, a newly booked person may spend the first 24 to 72 hours in a holding cell before movement into regular housing. Intake includes a wristband, property accounting, medical screening, commissary account setup, and classification. The jail has minimum, medium, and maximum security settings, and the handbook describes regular housing, restrictive housing, disciplinary lockdown, and housing-unit rules.

If the person does not bond out, the handbook says arraignment typically occurs within 24 hours excluding weekends and holidays. Court appearances outside the jail are arranged by the court bailiff, and jail staff may not know the exact court-call time. Booking is therefore only the first record stage. Court filing and custody status can lag behind each other.

Caribou County Visitation Rules

The official visitation rules say Caribou County Jail does not offer in-person visitation. Visits are through onsite kiosk visitation or remote video visitation. The sheriff jail page gives onsite kiosk hours and says remote video visits are daily through InmateSales/CTEL and must be scheduled at least 12 hours in advance. The handbook has a slightly different remote schedule, so current hours should be verified before paying for or scheduling a visit.

Contact Caribou County Inmates

Mail should be addressed to Caribou County Jail, the inmate's full name, 475 East 2nd South, Soda Springs, Idaho 83276. Incoming mail is scanned and delivered electronically. Full sender and receiver names and addresses are required. Newspapers are not allowed. Magazines may be allowed after 30 days of incarceration and must come from the publisher. Photos must be 3.5 by 5 inches or smaller, and the handbook lists a 30-photo possession limit.

Inmate communications use InmateSales/CTEL. The handbook says phones in dayrooms run from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, and attorney calls are treated separately from ordinary monitored calls. Three-way calling is prohibited and can trigger discipline plus a $25 phone-system charge. CTEL/CPC tablets and iPads are privileges and may be removed for misuse or discipline.

Caribou County Commissary Funds

The sheriff jail page links commissary or trust deposits to CorrectPay/JailFunds and says InmateSales is not for commissary. The jail page lists a $500 maximum total balance on an inmate trust account. The handbook lists a $150 weekly commissary spending limit, Saturday-night orders, and usual Tuesday delivery when there is no delay. It also says cash or credit cards may be accepted through the front lobby kiosk and warns not to mail cash.
